Chris Coyle runs for MAC

In September Chris ran 27 miles in the London Green Chain Marathon in a time of 4 hours, 21 minutes and collected £645 from his sponsors to support MAC.

MAC Annual General Meeting

MAC’s AGM, chaired by Kate Gray and attended by Trustees and members, was held on 1st June. Director and Trustee David Ward presented the accounts for the year ending July 2010, which were accepted by the meeting.

The MAC team has grown considerably in the past year and now has around 15 members.

 

Manchester Business School MBA Student Group

Manchester Business School MBA Project

MAC has been working with Manchester Business School and a team of six MBA students to gain a better understanding of what is involved in running a successful charity and to develop a plan for achieving this. The experienced and talented team, from six different countries, committed 420 hours over 10 weeks to prepare a business plan and fundraising strategy.

Lisa wins a place on Vodafone’s World of Difference programme

MAC Trustee Lisa Tilsley has been awarded a place on Vodafone’s World of Difference programme, one of 50 nationally out of 500 applicants. Lisa will further our aims and objectives, during a month of full time activities, by developing links and relationships with like-minded organisations in the UK and Zambia.

Paul Goggins MP becomes a patron

Paul Goggins MP, member of parliament for Wythenshawe, has become MAC's first patron. Paul brings a knowledge of Zambia and his political influence in support of MAC. His experience of working with children's charitieswill be particularly valuable.

Launch of Fundraising Campaign

The launch of MAC's campaign to raise fundsfor a Children's Village to be built at Musanga in northern Zambia was opened by Sir Howard Bernstein, Chief Executive of Manchester City Council. At the event held in May 2010, Sir Howard endorsed the objectives of MAC, promised to help further and wished the group every success with its fundraising efforts.

The purpose of David's second self-funded visit to Zambia was to advance the proposals for the Chimfinsa Children's Village. The site for the Village had been identified two years previously, but it was proving difficult to obtain a formal agreement for the project…
